If your're a cowboy or cowgirl, you won't want to miss this year's Holstein Rodeo. Our All Round Champion will receive an HR Roper saddle, as our top award. Our Weekend Champions will receive a Bronze statue, and a Stoltz/Holstein Rodeo jacket, with runner ups receiving a $50 gas card. We'll also have $600 added monies per rodeo. The rodeo arena will be lengthened to accomodate 200 more seats. That's just one of the many changes and improvements you'll see this year.

June 11

For the Kids!!!
There will be lots of entertainment for the kids!! We'll have a 1 hour interactive show in the big tent Saturday and Sunday featuring Dan the Music Man, from noon to 1:00 pm. Val E. Joy will be painting faces and making balloons and we'll also have pony rides from Exotic Critters. On Saturday The Dash for Cash, where 100 loonies are buried in the arena, and kids are set loose to dig them up will be sponsored on by Kendra Keffer of Sun Life Financial. Of course we'll have a Dash for Cash on Sunday as well. Lots to do, and of course it's all covered in your Rodeo admission. Even better, kids 5 and under are free.

Barrel Racing
Quaker State will be presenters of Holstein Rodeo Barrel Racing events.
Barrel racing is always a fan favourite, so come on out and cheer for your favourite barrel racer.

Good News!! Team Penning returns to the Holstein Rodeo on Thursday July 10 in the evening. Admission to Team Penning will be free. More information will be available later. We'll now keep you entertained for three nights!!!

2007 " A Year to Remember" for Shane Yellowbird

2007 was a year of high flying success for handsome cowboy crooner Shane Yellowbird. Yellowbird is finishing off the year with a bang as he tucks his third #1 Canadian single "I Remember the Music", under his belt.

Yellowbird was recognized with a multitude of awards in 2007, including Aboriginal Entertainer of the Year at the Aboriginal People's Choice Music Awards and Best Male Artisit at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards. Yellowbird was also honoured with the coveted "Chevy Truck Rising Star Awards" at the CCMA's. In total Yellowbird received a staggering 16 major award nominations in 2007.

There was plenty of time on the road in 2007 as Shane played over 100 dates during the course of the year. He started off the year with a cross Canada tour with Emerson Drive, and finished on the Eastern leg of the biggest Paul Brandt tour in history. Shane blew every crowd away wherever he was playing. According to Nick Meinema of the Agency Group, 2008 is looking to be another big year for Yellowbird. "Shane's 2008 is already almost booked up, I'm thrilled to be working with him, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the Shane Yellowbird team pulls off in the year to come."

Yellowbird remains humble about his success, even as he continues to top the charts and draw crowds whereever he goes. "This year has been the craziest, best time of my life, and things seem to be getting better" comments Yellowbird on 2007. "The fans have been truly unbelieveable to me,--I sure am thankful for it, and I want to keep bringing them music and making them smile."

As good as things have been for this shy cowboy, it looks like things are only getting better in 2008, as Yellowbird will be spending plenty of time on the road, as well as preparing for a new album.

We're pleased to announce the following improvements, with more to come for 2008;

There will be a seperate entrance to the campground. The entrance will be off of Southgate Rd 14, west of Southgate Rd 49.

We're lenghtening the arena, and adding more seating on both sides

The competitors camping area will increase in size.

The final touches are being put on our 2008 Holstein Rodeo Weekend. Our website will be revised in mid January. In 2008 we're proud to announce, we'll be an A Bar K Rodeo. Our concerts will feature two CCMA award winners and also a CCMA award nominee, along with stellar supporting entertainers. We'll have entertainment for kids on Saturday and Sunday, with a one hour show, prior to the Rodeos, and plenty more.

Save your money!! Early Bird Weekend tickets will be available online,when the website is chaged over. Quantities will be limited, so don't miss out!!

Congratulations to The Holstein General Store winners of the2007 Stars in Business "Customer Service Excellence" award. If you've bought your Rodeo tickets at the store, or had any other dealings, I'm sure you'll agree. They're the best, bar none!

We will have an announcement in the near future, regarding our Friday night concert & rodeo. As we continue to try and present the best entertainment around, Friday's concert will have co-headliners. We have some i's to dot & t's to cross, but it'll be a super show. We don't take being Ontario's #1 Rodeo lightly, as you'll see.

What a great night in Holstein!! Last night the Egremont Optimist Club presented nearly $6000 to 13 organizations. Guests were treated to a wonderful Roast Beef dinner served up by the Optimist ladies.

The Egremont Optimist Club donated and presented 3 kids bikes at Varney Speedway on Saturday Sept.01. On the same night, the North Wellington Bravehearts raised $2500 for their Special Olympics chapter.

The Egremont Optimist Club will provide $700 sponsorship, for Tie Down & Calf Roping qualifier jackets at the Dodge Rodeo Championships, September 28 through September 30.
Come on out and support the champions of the Holstein Rodeo and all of the other Dodge Rodeos. Special tickets are availble for Friday night, go to www.ontariorodeo.com for more information.

The Egremont Optimist Club will also be donating $300 to the Cowboy Crisis Fund, as further support to the great cowboys and
cowgirls of the Dodge Rodeo circuit.

The Egremont Optimist Club will be giving away 3 bikes at Varney Speedway, Saturday Sept. 01. There will also be a fundraiser for North Wellington Brave Heart Special Olympics Team.

Aaron Lines Blog - July 25
I played a show in Holstein, Ontario July 14th. Had a great time. We actually broke a record there for attendance. Everbody was crazy...a lot of drinking and people having a good time. A lot of the songs I didn't even need to sing...people were singing all of the words from start to finish. I love crowds like that...it makes it that much more fun to be up there on stage. I don't think fans realize what an effect they have on a show by the energy they give off.
